The Saguache County Tourism Council invites interested business and community members to consider being part of their committee.  The goal of this council is to support and encourage guests outside of our part of the San Luis Valley to come visit, enjoy, and share in the beauty and services of our unique Saguache County events and businesses.  A portion of lodging taxes collected throughout the county supports the work of this council to provide twice-a-year advertising grants to organizations, businesses, or individuals within Saguache County.  The council also provides and promotes tourism infrastructure for our area by partnering with other organizations

Meetings are held once-a-month and are currently held at the county courthouse.  We invite interested parties from throughout the county to attend our next regular meeting.  We meet at scheduled for 4:30 p.m., the 1st Wednesday of the month at the County Courthouse – corner of 4th & Christy in the Town of Saguache.  This will allow you a glimpse as to what we do, how we do it, and who we are.  Even if you are unable to attend a council meeting and are interested in being part of the council, you are invited to address a letter to the Saguache County Commissioners stating your interest.  The length of commitment is four years.  You can mail your letter of interest to:  Saguache County Commissioners, POB 655, Saguache CO   81149.

The Saguache County Courthouse located at 515 4th Street, Saguache turned 100 years old in July this year with a BBQ gathering, music, and an open invitation to county residents to stop by.  The building was erected in 1910.  Many hours were spent refurbishing the lobby area of the courthouse with sanding, painting, framed historical photos and other historical artifacts.  Stop by and see what was accomplished by so many.

To commemorate the 100th birthday of our Saguache County Courthouse a beautiful coverlet was designed and is for sale.  This coverlet is a fund raising effort of the Saguache County Tourism Council.  The cost is $35.00 and is available in red, blue, green, and tan-brown.  The supply of coverlets is limited. To obtain your throw or coverlet, stop by the County Courthouse – Clerk & Recorder’s Office or contact Melinda Myers at mmyers@saguachecounty-co.gov or write POB 176, Saguache CO 81149.  Questions can be directed to 719.655.0263.  This is a chance for you to own a piece of Saguache County’s unique history for your home.
